Updating the iPad Operating System and System Software

Apple has designed the iPad to automatically update regularly for essential and systems software when your iPad is connected to a computer with internet. If you don't connect your device and sync your data with regularly, follow the simple steps below to manually update your iPad's operating system and other essential system software.

1. Using the cable provided by Apple, connect your iPad to your laptop or desktop computer.
2. Launch iTunes and the software should automatically detect and sync your computer and your iPad.
3. Select your iPad on the device list by clicking on it.
4. Click the "Summary tab".
5. Click "Check for Update" to connect to the Apple data server. iTunes will now connect and see if there is any software to update. A dialog box will pop up giving the size of the update and description, if any software update is available.
6. Click "Next".
7. iTunes will now display Apple's License Agreement. Click "Agree" to accept.
8. iTunes will now download your software update and automatically install the software. You iPad will restart once it's finished and display the Apple logo.

What this means is that if you have version 3.11 of the iPad Operating System. Apple will provide the updates for free such as version 3.12 to latest version 3.xx. When Apple releases version 4 of the iPad OS, that upgrade is included as well! You might have to pay for the next major upgrade such as version 5.xx.

Die Rückseite bleibt offen und vor allem in einer Tasche verrutscht das Smartcover schnell. Das Innenleben wurde gründlich überarbeitet. iPad 2 sales have been sky-rocketing. Apple sold close to, or over 500,000 iPad 2s last weekend. It's reported that in many cities several retailers like Best Buy, Target and Walmart ran out of stock on the very first day of the launch.

Sources claim a sale of 400,000 to 500,000 iPad 2s as compared to 300,000 of the original iPads in its first weekend. There appears to be a large number of sales made to first time owners of iPad.

iPad 2 retailers should be replenishing the tablet stock this week. Buyers also have the option of ordering online through the Apple or the AT&T site. However this involves a waiting period of 3-4 weeks for Apple and 2-3 weeks for AT&T before shipping the product out.

Apple takes one more step further with the launch of iPad 2

Apple has always been known for introducing products with out-of-the-ordinary designs and innovative features that have never failed to take the consumer market by storm. Years ago this started with the iPod revolution. Today iPod with its several designs and models has been a must-have possession for music lovers. Then came iPhone which was akin to having a mini-computer with a phone in your pocket. With its sleek design and features and increasing popularity, it soon proved to be a phone that everyone was proud to flaunt.

The launch of iPad

Apple did not stop at that and the market saw the advent of Apple's popular touchscreen tablet device, the iPad, which went on sale in April of last year. FaceTime again with two cameras
iPad2 has 2 cameras - one on the front and one on the back. The Apple fans got a taste of FaceTime with the launch of iPhone 4. It has been gaining so much popularity lately that iPad2 has decided to add the FaceTime functionality to the iPad2 through the two cameras. The front camera puts you and your friend face-to-face. Switch to the back camera during your video call to share where you are, who you're with, or what's going on around you. When you're not using FaceTime, let the back camera roll if you see something movie-worthy. It's HD, so whatever you shoot is a mini-masterpiece.

Reports reason that when pre-orders began for the Verizon iPhone, there were so many pre-orders that it took both the Verizon and Apple online stores down within two hours. Though the sales were enormous, the reality lines were short at Verizon stores since most people pre-ordered online. Apple does not want this to happen again. Apple wants long lines for iPad2 which would provide better advertising for a major Apple product release. March 11 would see many who owned the original iPad upgrading to the newer model, while many others who didn't get the first generation iPad buying their first iPad.

iPad WiFi Versus iPad 3G - Five Major Differences Between iPad WiFi and iPad 3G

So, what's the difference between an iPad with WiFi and an iPad with 3G plus WiFi. It's a question that seems to come up frequently, so I thought it would be worth finding out some answers to the question.

I've found five major differences between the two models and keep on looking for more. Here are the five differences:

Apple Ipad2

Number 1: Limited connectivity vs. Extensive connectivity. With the iPad WiFi your connectivity to the internet is limited to areas where you can access the web via WiFi. With the 3G version of the iPad you can connect both via WiFi or the 3G cellular network. That means it should have connectivity anywhere you get cell phone coverage. To get the same coverage with the WiFi version you would need a portable WiFi, like Verizon's MiFi or some of the smart phones that can act like a WiFi.

Number 2: You Pay for More Connectivity. The 3G iPad costs more to buy. At the time I write this, the difference is about 0 in the US. To use the 3G wireless service you need to have a wireless data plan with you carrier. In the US, AT&T provides data plans for a price. To start they had a .99 per month data plan with 250MB of data included and a per month "unlimited" plan. The unlimited plan was discontinued pretty quickly and now you can get 2G of data for per month.

Number 3: iPad with 3G also has built in GPS service. The WiFi version can do some triangulation; you need a 3G iPad to get a really accurate location fix.

Number 4: Some small physical differences. On the back of the 3G iPad there is a black plastic section that enables the iPad to get a better connection to the wireless network. The 3G version also has a door on the side for you to insert the Micro SIM card. These differences are probably not that big a deal given that you will probably want to use an iPad cover to protect your iPad.

Number 5: Shorter Battery Life for the 3G. Using the 3G network chews up more battery. From what I have read it cuts battery life from about 10 hours down to between 7 and 8 hours. Not bad, but it does count at the end of a long day.

So to sum it up, if you are just using the iPad around the house, get the WiFi version and if you need to use it out in the field you are probably better off getting the 3G version of the iPad.

Best Tablet for 2012

The Motorola XOOM is a powerful tablet that offers nearly all the traditional features of a desktop PC, but it's in a 10.1 inch tablet that's just half an inch thick. I have the pleasure of supporting 3 of them at work right now. So far this would be my choice for Best Tablet 2012.

Price Range: 0-0 for wi-fi only version. 3G and 4G XOOM's can run as much as 0 depending on if you sign up for a 2 year data contract from a cellular provider. This review is on the Wi-Fi only version of the Motorola XOOM (which is all I've worked with so far).

Who's it for: This a hardcore tablet. It's got a lot of power and features. It's perfectly suited for home and corporate users who want the desktop experience right in the palm of their hand, however if you're just trying to browse the internet and read some ebooks there are more affordable tablets out there.

Motorola XOOM Hardware Features

The XOOM isn't playing around when it comes to hardware. It's beefy. Motorola popped in a dual core 1 ghz nVidia Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB of DDR2 Ram, 32 GB's of internal storage and a 10 hour battery (and that's 10 hours of actually using the tablet)! That's a lot of power for a tablet.

Motorola didn't skimp on wireless connectivity either. The XOOM comes with 802.11 N Wi-Fi and it also supports A, B and G signal types as well. Blue-tooth is also included so you'll be able to use accessories like headsets or even connect it to your hands-free blue-tooth system in your car (which is great for those turn by turn directions played via your car speakers).

The XOOM allows you to setup 5 "home screens". Each of these home screens can contain different applications and widgets. While this isn't a big deal in the corporate environment it does make sharing the XOOM at home with other people much easier. Speaking of widgets...you can add dozens of widgets on each home screen. These widgets are scrollable (for example you can scroll through emails on the email widget), stackable and now re-sizable!

Unlike the iPad, the XOOM completely supports Adobe Flash (v. 10.2), so you won't be limited to viewing just half of the sites on the Internet. You should know that flash content uses the battery almost twice as fast. So your 10 hours if internet browsing becomes 5 if you're on flash rich websites.

Multi-touch gestures are there too, for example, you can use 2 fingers to pinch zoom in and expand (zoom out) any website, picture or movie.

Email: You can add as many corporate or personal email accounts as you want. Our XOOM users here at work have Microsoft Exchange and gmail accounts configured on their XOOMs. So far it works perfectly.

XOOM is Multi-tasker. You can download music, files, watch a video or play a game all at the same time, there's no need to wait for something to finish. Tabbed web browsing is also available in the XOOM. It's just like your desktop.

The Android Market gives you access to hundreds of thousands of Apps, Games, Books and more. Some are free and some cost anywhere from - (usually). Now, with the new Android 3.2 release for the XOOM you can also rent movies directly from the Android Market (and these are new movies, as soon as they are released to DVD). Google apps and technologies are found throughout the XOOM (and they work flawlessly with the exception of Google Earth at this time). You can video and voice chat using Google talk (over a Wi-Fi connection) or pull up a 3D Google map and get spoken turn-by-turn directions if you're out walking or in your car.

With the release of the iPad, it was inevitable that there would soon be a glut of iPad DJ apps being released. After all, the iPad is about the same size as a vinyl record or a CDJ deck. There have been iPad DJ apps released for the iPhone, but the small size of the screen didn't really make them viable as anything much more than a toy. In this article I am going to look at the three best iPad DJ apps I have seen to date.

In third place we have midiPad. This is a paid app that mimics the layout of a typical digital controller. MidiPad is able to communicate wirelessly by network-MIDI-protocol, thereby enabling the controller to link to and control the DJ software on your Mac or PC. It has a clean, minimal interface and features controls such as sliders, trigger pads, buttons, etc.

In second place is Groovemaker for iPad from IK Multimedia. This is the software used by Rana Sobhany, the so-called first ever iPad DJ. It allows you to select from a library of loops and then to layer them together and make a recording of your mix. Groovemaker comes in various versions, including house, drum and base, and hip-hop. There are both free and paid versions.

By far the best looking iPad DJ app is Mixr, the first iPad DJ app to be aimed at the professional DJ market. Mixr runs on a single iPad and features two realistic decks with pitch control and mixer functions. The virtual vinyl can be manipulated by hand, in exactly the same way we do on a standard DJ turntable. Mixr has a host of features including live EQ and effects, and track drag-and-drop selection. It is possible to cue tracks and to precisely beat match them together. It is the closest thing, by far, to a real DJ experience. Mixr will be available for download from the App Store from "Fall 2010".

iPad 2 is a follow up to the iPad that was successfully released by Apple last year. iPhone 4 Gets iPhone 4S Features With IOS5 Update

For the thousands of consumers who bought an iPhone 4 and have recently learned of the new iPhone 4S release but cannot buy the new phone as they are still committed to their existing contract there has been some good news.

Apple have just released their new iOS5 software allowing existing iPhone 4 users to update their phone with over 200 new features that will come as standard on the new iPhone 4S.

These include the new iCloud service which is able to sync photos, music, contacts, apps, documents and calendar with any other Apple devices such as the iPad 2 that the user owns, initially on sign up the user is allocated 5GB of space which can be upgraded to 10, 20 or even 50GB directly from their iPhone 4.

Another new service introduced with the iOS5 is iMessage which is very much like the existing Blackberry Messenger service and allows users to share locations, photos and contacts free of charge as well as send free SMS style text messages.

Also included in the update is an upgrade to the existing iPhone 4 camera which increases the speed it takes to capture a picture by using a two touch function on the main home button for instant access even when the phone is locked, no more needing to enter a security code.

Other new features of note include a photo editing suite which acts very much like a mobile Photoshop for cropping, rotating and removing red-eye from pictures, there also the new iTunes Match included free which syncs and stores all of the users music.

The process of upgrading the iPhone 4 with the new iOS5 software is fairly uncomplicated although not quite as easy as an Android update:
